About Riffly

Riffly is a free, open-source chromatic tuner and practice studio that runs entirely in your browser — no downloads, no installs, nothing to pay. The core tuner delivers professional-grade pitch detection with ±1 cent precision, a responsive visual gauge, and dedicated instrument profiles for guitar, bass, violin, and piano. Each profile knows its strings and target pitches, so the tuner automatically associates what you play with the string you are tuning, making even a first-ever tuning session feel guided rather than guesswork. Your microphone audio is analyzed locally on your device and never uploaded anywhere.

Beyond tuning, Riffly is a complete practice environment. The chord progression library organizes the progressions that power popular music by genre, shows inline diagrams for guitar, neck, and piano, and lets you hear any progression played back instantly. Practice tools include a built-in drum machine, a loop recorder for capturing and critiquing your own playing, and real-time chord detection from your microphone. Chord Rush, the rhythm game mode, turns practice into play: a curated library of songs across five difficulty tiers is graded note by note through your microphone, so strumming and fingerpicking technique improve while you chase a high score.

Riffly is built for anyone who plays or teaches a tuned instrument — absolute beginners changing their first guitar string, gigging musicians who need a reliable tuner in their pocket, piano and orchestral students, and the teachers who coach them. It is developed as an open-source project by a small community of musicians and developers who believe practice tools should be free, private, and honest. The full source code is available on GitHub, and contributions — from song charts to bug reports — are always welcome.
